Seminoles' 13 Sod Victories over the University of Florida by two Seminole Legends
This Saturday's 11am SodTalk at the Sod Cemetery will feature recognition of the Seminoles' 13 Sod Victories over the University of Florida by two Seminole Legends who lead their teams to wins at Gainesville.
Charlie Ward's 1993 National Champion Seminoles beat UF 33-21, highlighted by the epic Ward-to-Dunn 79 yard TD pass. The Heisman Trophy Winner went on to become the most decorated football player in the history of the college game and played in the NBA for 11 seasons. He now coaches high school basketball in Tallahassee.
Dave Roberts was an Academic All American who caught Peter Tom Willis' TD pass to lead his 1989 Fiesta Bowl Champion Seminoles to a 24-17 win in Gainesville. Dave Roberts won the NCAA's Post-Graduate Scholarship, earning his law degree and now practices law while also coaching high school football in Santa Rosa Beach.
The Sod Cemetery is located between the Bobby Bowden Statue and Howser Baseball Stadium.
