PACK THE TUCK: INTERVIEW WITH COACH LUKE LOUCKS
The hurricane warning flags are flying at the Donald Tucker Center, but Coach Luke Loucks and the Florida State men’s basketball team aren’t taking cover. After knocking off Miami in Coral Gables earlier this season to ignite a 7-2 run, the garnet and gold have built serious conference momentum, and they have no intention of letting up now.
John Fletcher Butler of Seminole Student Boosters had the opportunity to speak with Head Coach Luke Loucks to discuss what it means for him to return to his alma mater and to have strong student support behind his program. “There’s always something a little extra when you’re representing something that you care so much more about than just your employment,” said Loucks. “Helping to turn this thing around has been super meaningful, and not just for myself but for my family as well.”
Moving into the upcoming rivalry matchup, Butler wanted to know what’s different when squaring off against an opponent for the second time, especially a rival. Loucks replied, “I think both of our teams are playing better … I think it’s going to be a better game than it was down in Miami, and that was a heck of a game.” The head coach also added that Tre Donaldson, Miami’s starting point guard, is a Tallahassee native and will almost certainly carry extra motivation into Tuesday night’s game.
Butler then asked Loucks what having a lively, full student section can do for a team, especially in a rivalry game. “When the stands are full at the Tucker [Center], it’s a tough place to play for opponents,” said Loucks. “It’s intimidating, it’s loud, and our record indicates the same thing. When that place is full, it’s a very, very tough place to come in and win games. So, we’re going to need students, we’re going to need locals, we’re going to need boosters, everyone, to show up, to be loud, and cheer us on to help us beat Miami.”
Join the Seminole Student Boosters at Brick House Restaurant and Bar on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as we gear up for the 9 p.m. showdown with Miami. Come socialize with your fellow Seminole family, bring the energy, and help us pack the Tuck before tipoff!
BRICK HOUSE TAILGATE
This Tuesday the Seminoles are excited to take on Miami at a home game rivalry showdown. With only four games left in the season, this will be a match to remember. Brickhouse will be hosting a tailgate at 7pm, 2 hours before tipoff, inviting fans to come bring the energy before the game even begins. Only a couple blocks away from the Tucker Center, this tailgate will be a perfect place to eat, drink, and build the energy with other Noles fans. Whether you are stopping by with friends or meeting up with other fans on the spot, the tailgate offers a fun way to build the pregame hype.
Florida State has already taken down Miami once this season and hasn’t fallen to the team since 2023. So let’s fill Brick and gather the crowd to hopefully continue our 6 game win streak against the Hurricanes. Not only will this bring importance for rivalry pride but it’s also important as the postseason is approaching.
