ON THE MOUND AND BEYOND: MYLES BAILEY'S SEMINOLE STORY
As FSU baseball charges into a season loaded with expectations, sophomore captain Myles Bailey stands at the heart of the momentum. In a conversation with Maggie Allen of Seminole Student Boosters, Bailey opened up about what’s driving the team into 2026.
Coming off a postseason run that ended one game short of the College World Series, Bailey says last year’s heartbreak has transformed the team’s mindset going into this spring season.
Additionally, this year marks Bailey’s first season as captain, which is a title he doesn’t take lightly. “It means everything to be named captain. It was one of my goals coming out of last season, to gain that respect from my teammates and coaches.”
What some people don’t realize about the star first baseman is that Bailey’s love for baseball began long before his collegiate career and started right here in Tallahassee. “All my inspiration for pursuing baseball comes from my dad… he pushed me to succeed,” Bailey said. “Playing for Florida State was a natural fit for me and being from Tallahassee made it even more special. Getting the chance to play for such a famous program I grew up watching and compete in front of the people I’ve known my whole life is a dream come true.”
Bailey credited the Seminole fans and the student section for lifting the team during home games. “It’s everything… it gives an extra umph in the games knowing there are hundreds of people cheering for my name and for my team,” he said. “It just kind of makes you want to succeed so much more”.
Hearing that from a hometown captain, one who grew up dreaming of moments like these, sets the tone for what’s ahead. If there was ever a year for students to pack the stands, this is it. Bailey and the Seminoles are ready, and they want their campus behind them every step of the way. Home games start again this Tuesday at 6pm, be there.
