The War Chant Weekly: February 17th

MEN’S BASKETBALL HAS FOUND A GROOVE
With an impressive 5-1 start this season, FSU men’s basketball made noise early with their pro-style pace and strong three point shooting. Following this streak, the season took a tough turn as the Seminoles lost ten of their next twelve games, slipping to 7-11. But now, they have flipped the script! FSU is heating up at the perfect point in the season, rolling into the last stretch before the ACC tournament with real momentum. FSU is 5-2 in their past 7 games with wins against Cal, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Miami, and Stanford. Now sitting at 12-13, they’ve pulled themselves up in the ACC and are heading in the right direction when it matters most.
Toby Moskowitz of Seminole Student Boosters got the opportunity to chat with starting center and #25 on the Men’s Basketball team, Alex Steen. When Moskowitz asked what has led to this turnaround in the heart of conference play, Steen said “I think our success is from a combination of changes both on and off the court. Off the court we’re really bonding as a team. On the plane, in the hotel, we’re playing games and making jokes with each other. You can feel everyone getting close off the court which leads to on the court. On the court there was a mentality shift. We knew we weren’t playing anywhere near our capability.”
Alex Steen, his teammates, and the staff have been doing everything they can to get on track, and these past 7 games reflect that.
Steen also noted, “Everyone having a bond off the court translates to on the court and it makes communicating and trust come way easier. We have a belief we’re getting hot at the right time”
This team needs all the support from students it can get. FSU returns to the Tuck tonight, February 17th at 7:00 PM vs Boston College. You know where to be.
